Agri Investment Fund (AIF) is participating in a €2.5 million funding round in Optiflux, a KU Leuven spin-off specializing in AI-powered quality management for fruit. The round was co-financed by LAVA, LRM and Gemma Frisius Fund. Through this investment, AIF helps to secure the company’s local roots and technology and supports the further development of its AI and software platform as well as its international expansion.

From subjective quality control to data-driven decision-making

Optiflux develops a digital platform that makes quality measurements objective and scalable through artificial intelligence, computer vision and predictive analysis. Today, quality decisions in the sector are still largely based on limited sampling and human assessment, which can lead to variability and inefficiencies throughout the supply chain. By standardizing and systematically analyzing quality data, Optiflux enables growers, cooperatives, packers and retailers to make faster and more consistent quality decisions. The technology also enables more accurate shelf-life prediction and optimize storage strategies. This improves operational efficiency and supports better-informed commercial and logistical decision-making.

Over the past few years, Optiflux has achieved strong growth. Its solutions are currently deployed in 16 countries and applied across a wide range of fruit varieties, underscoring the growing demand for data-driven quality management.

“Our ambition goes beyond developing software. We are building a digital standard that enables the global fruit industry to measure, predict and manage quality,” says Niels Bessemans, CEO en co-founder of Optiflux.

Contributing to a more efficient and sustainable Agri-Food supply chain

By making quality data more accessible and predictable, Optiflux helps reduce food waste and improve efficiency throughout the fresh produce supply chain. More objective quality assessment also increases transparency and supports fair product valuation, benefiting growers as well. For AIF, this investment aligns with its ambition to support innovative solutions that contribute to a stronger and more sustainable agricultural sector, with a particular focus on improving farmers’ position within the value chain.

“Optiflux combines strong scientific expertise with a clear market need. The company has already demonstrated, both in our home market and internationally, its ability to translate innovative technology into tangible value for the fruit sector. We look forward to supporting the team in this next phase of growth,” says Nico Snoeck, Investment Manager bij AIF.
